Housing Options

Check out our IKEA showroom in Fogelman 304! MCA is the first college in the Memphis area to partner with IKEA. Our showroom is open all year!

Memphis College of Art has student housing available for a large percentage of our student body. Student residences are conveniently located within walking distance, directly across from Overton Park. Freshmen students that live outside a 30-mile radius of MCA are required to live on-campus for their first year unless they plan to live with family members in the area. Live-in Resident Assistants supervise students in all housing buildings.

Each room is provided with high-speed Internet access, cable, and local phone service. Utilities are included in the prices of all apartments. All buildings have off-street parking available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Morning shuttle service to the college’s main building is offered weekdays when classes are in session.

Metz & Fogelman Halls – Our newest residences offer suite-style, single furnished bedrooms with shared bathrooms, laundry room, kitchen, and furnished living room. Studio space is available on the top floor of the building for residents. Secure gated grounds and parking are accessed with magnetic key cards.

At the Park – These large, furnished apartments house two students who share a bedroom, living room, dining area, kitchen, and bathroom. All kitchens and bathrooms in the building are newly remodeled. Architectural features such as hardwood floors, terrace or balcony and French doors add to the charm. A coin-operated laundry facility for all residents is located downstairs.

Parkside – Houses two students who share a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room. These newly remodeled apartments have hardwood floors and midtown charm.

Rooms are leased for the academic year or two semesters (approximately nine months). Only students entering housing for the spring term or students graduating in December can lease for one semester. All residences are smoke free.

If you are a transfer or graduate student and prefer to live in off-campus housing the Admissions Office will be happy to assist you with your housing search. If you want us to help you find a roommate, complete a housing questionnaire so that we might match you with someone with compatible tastes in music, study habits, and budget. We can provide lists of rental properties, even take you to visit some places — we’ll be as involved as you want us to be in finding the right place to suit your lifestyle.

A shuttle will help campus residents with getting to classes on weekday mornings — and getting back to the student residences at night — getting around town is up to you. Feel free to drive yourself, carpool with friends, ride your bike, skateboard or walk. Most major conveniences are easily within walking distance of the college. Students can also take advantage of the several shopping trips planned each semester to places like Home Depot, Kroger and Target.

Other important information such as how to turn on your phone service or where you can open a checking account is listed in a very handy publication that we call ‘Living in Memphis’. You’ll receive one when you arrive on campus.
